Hugh’s Pond Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1976 by dedicated community members who recognized the need for reliable fire protection and emergency services in the area. Since its inception, the department has remained committed to safeguarding lives and property through rapid response, fire suppression, and community outreach initiatives.
We operate from a single station located at 1442 Tot Dellinger Rd, Cherryville, NC, strategically positioned to serve our coverage area effectively. Our team consists of approximately 30 highly dedicated members, including both part-time staff and volunteers, who undergo continuous training to maintain the highest level of readiness and professionalism.
As a Class 4 ISO-rated department, we help homeowners and businesses within our jurisdiction benefit from lower insurance premiums, reflecting our strong capabilities in fire protection and emergency response.
In addition to our core firefighting operations, we are committed to fostering the next generation of emergency responders through our Junior Members Program, which provides hands-on experience and training for youth between the ages of 14 and 18. This program helps instill discipline, teamwork, and foundational firefighting skills, preparing young individuals for potential careers in the fire service.
At Hugh’s Pond Volunteer Fire Department, we take great pride in serving our community with dedication, professionalism, and a strong sense of duty.
